SIP calculator: see what a monthly investment can grow to

A systematic investment plan (SIP) puts a fixed amount into an investment every month. This calculator estimates the value of that habit: enter the monthly amount, an expected annual return and the number of years, and it shows the final corpus, how much you put in, and how much of the result is growth.

It works out the monthly rate as the annual rate divided by 12, then compounds each instalment from the month it is invested, using the standard future-value formula for a series of payments. The return you enter is an assumption, not a promise: market-linked investments move up and down, so try a few different rates to see a range rather than a single number.

Frequently asked questions

Does a SIP guarantee a return?

No. A SIP is a way of investing regularly, not a product with a fixed rate. If the money goes into a market-linked fund, the actual return can be higher or lower than the rate you enter here.

What return should I assume?

There is no single right number. Using a conservative rate, and then a more optimistic one, shows how sensitive the outcome is. Long periods smooth out the ups and downs but never remove them.

How is a SIP different from a lumpsum investment?

A SIP spreads the money over many months, so each instalment compounds for a different length of time. A lumpsum invests everything at once. The lumpsum calculator shows that case.
