How We Rank
No bank pays for placement — but "best" means different things in different tools, so here's exactly what each one actually does.
The Pledge
No bank, NBFC, or card issuer can pay to rank higher, get a default sort boost, or buy a "Top Pick" badge on Truely Money. We don't run affiliate lead-gen — see our Privacy Policy for how we make money instead.
Card Finder — Net Monetary Value
This is the one place in the app with a true, single ranking formula. For each card we compute a net annual benefit: your estimated cashback/rewards value across your spending categories, plus any milestone bonuses you'd realistically hit, minus the card's effective annual fee (already accounting for spend-based fee waivers). Cards are ranked highest net benefit first — a card with a flashy welcome offer but a high fee can rank below a fee-free card that simply suits your spending better.
Loan Finder — Approval Comes First
Loans aren't ranked by rate alone. We first estimate your realistic approval odds for each lender (based on your income headroom, credit score fit, employer type, and age), grouped into tiers from "excellent match" to "unlikely". A loan you're unlikely to get approved for never outranks one you actually qualify for, even if its advertised rate is lower — a deliberate choice against the common aggregator trick of leading with a rate most applicants can't actually get. Within the same approval tier, results are then ordered by whichever you tell us matters most: lowest rate, fastest disbursal, highest approval odds, or a balanced mix of all of it.
Browse Lists — Plain Sorting, No Hidden Score
Outside the two tools above, the category lists (Savings, FDs, Current Accounts, Credit Cards, general Loans) don't run a proprietary score at all — you sort them yourself, by interest rate, minimum balance, or alphabetically. The default view, "Popularity", is a fixed, editorially-curated ordering by how well-known each bank is in India (major national banks first) — it is not a live usage or click-tracking metric, and we'd rather say that plainly than let the label imply otherwise.
"Top Pick" Badges & Discover
A gold "Top Pick" badge on a card is an editorial flag we set by hand for a small number of genuinely standout products — it never changes where something sits in a sorted list. Similarly, the curated lists on the Discover tab ("Best FD for Seniors", "Best Card for Beginners", and similar) are hand-assembled for a specific scenario, not output from a ranking formula. We'd rather be upfront that these are curation, not computation.
Where the Data Comes From
Interest rates, tenure rules, fees, and eligibility criteria are sourced from publicly accessible bank portals and RBI publications, and refreshed periodically — not in real time. Always verify current terms directly with the bank before applying. See our Privacy Policy for the full data handling details.
