Home affordability calculator: how expensive a home can you buy?
This calculator estimates the price range you can comfortably afford from your income, your down payment and your existing EMIs. It works out the monthly instalment you can sustain and converts it to the loan that instalment supports at your chosen rate and tenure, then adds your down payment.
It is a planning guide, not a lender's offer. Banks also weigh your credit score, job stability and the property itself, and you will need money beyond the price for registration, stamp duty and moving costs. Keeping the EMI well below the maximum leaves room for other goals and for rate changes on a floating-rate loan.
Frequently asked questions
How much down payment do I need?
Lenders typically finance a large share of the property value and expect you to cover the rest, along with other costs. The tool lets you try different amounts.
Does the rate matter that much?
Yes. On a long tenure, a small difference in rate changes the EMI and total interest substantially.
Should I include other costs?
Yes. Stamp duty, registration, brokerage and interiors can add a meaningful amount on top of the price.
